When we were planning the wedding, we were intrigued by some old pictures from Rebecca's parent's wedding. The pictures were all black and white, and they seemed to really focus on the people's expressions. We wanted to capture the same kind of feeling, but we couldn't let go of wanting at least some color pictures, too.
At Lorraine's suggestion, she shot using color film until the sun was down. After the sun was down, she switched to black and white. So, the colors of the day, the dresses, and the flowers are all there, but the pictures from the reception ("party") have the intriguing character that we saw in the older pictures. The black and white really makes you focus on the movement and expressions in the pictures; we were really glad we did it the way Lorraine suggested.
Now that we've had our fifteen minutes of Internet fame, Lorraine's pictures have appeared in NetGuide (May '96) and People (week of June 3, 1996) magazines. She captured our signature "goofy" picture shown below and various other places around this site.
